The American Society for AI Welcomes Two New Board Members: Lt. Gen. Michael Groen and Ramine Roane

San Francisco, California — July 6, 2025 — The American Society for AI, the leading nonprofit association for artificial intelligence, is pleased to announce the appointment of two distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors: Lt. Gen. Michael Groen (Ret., USMC) and AMD executive Ramine Roane.

Michael Groen, former director of the Department of Defense's Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, is a retired U.S. Marine Corps general with decades of leadership in defense strategy, national security, and emerging technologies.

Ramine Roane, a senior AI and technology executive, serves as Corporate Vice President of AI at AMD, a global semiconductor company.

"We are only beginning to understand the transformational change that is headed our way, technologically and socially," said Groen. "ASFAI is at the forefront of this essential dialogue, and we've never been more needed."
