November 17, 2024

In a significant development that marks a new chapter in the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Rei Llazani, entrepreneur and businessman, has been elected as President of the American Society for AI (ASFAI). The organization, a non-profit that brings together the top leaders and executives in AI, announced this decision following a unanimous vote by its Board of Directors.

"I see AI as more than technology. In many ways, it is an evolutionary mechanism that brings humanity to new, great heights. I am honored to support the Society's mission in helping create a better world with AI and I am grateful for the Board's vote of confidence," Llazani says.

A young organization launched in 2023, ASFAI has been compared to the prestigious and secretive Alfalfa Club in design and structure. The annual gatherings of ASFAI are intended to foster dialogue-rich discussions and intimate conversations throughout a two-day, gala-like event.

The organization's inaugural gathering was held in December 2023 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, where Llazani played a significant role in its programming. Terry Virts, former NASA astronaut and Commander of the International Space Station was the dinner guest of honor with discussions around space exploration and AI.

As President, Llazani plans to spearhead a range of initiatives aimed at advancing AI, promoting ethical AI practices, fostering collaboration among leaders and executives, and advocating for policies that ensure AI creates a better world.
